The Alliance Nationale des Consommateurs et de l’Environnement (ANCE-Togo) and the National Program for TC (PNAT) carried out on May 17 to 20, 2016, with the financial support of WHO-Togo a workshop to draft the action plan (2016-2020) for TC in Togo.
Hotel Berceau of Notsè (100 km of Lomé) was the venue of this workshop which gathered 10 experts from ANCE-Togo and PNAT/MOH. The workshop aimed at drafting the draft zero of the five-year multisectoral action plan for tobacco control (TC) in Togo. This action plan to be elaborated was meant to integrate recommendations made by the Secretariat of the WHO Framework convention for Tobacco Control (FCTC). Following the recommendations on this matter, the PNAT/MOH had elaborated a document on the needs for an effective implementation of WHO-FCTC by Togo. Taking into account these needs, the PNAT was mandated to elaborate a multisectoral action plan by taking into account the needs of all ministries and CSO. Hence, after four (4) working days the experts succeeded in elaborating the draft zero of this plan which integrates the needs of each TC stakeholder for effectively implement the FCTC.
At the end of the works, the activities to be undertaken by all ministries and civil society involved were clearly defined. This draft zero elaborated will enable the entrusted consultant to deepen the work with TC focal point for the edition of the draft 1 of the plan which will be validated by stakeholders during a workshop.
